“But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”
Philippians 3:20 NLT
Perhaps you have heard the saying, ‘Too heavenly minded to be any earthly good.’
Advent reminds the believer that God, the Father, sent God, the Son to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to us. Christ came so that we refugees from the garden, could grasp the wondrous concept of our true citizenship, a citizenship that transcends all earthly loyalties, passports, and borders.
Jesus brought heaven with him. He came to reveal God the Father to all who would recognize Him. Creation had been broken by sin. We had been driven from the garden. We were refugees seeking asylum and assimilation with the world, but inside there was a hole, whose name was ‘Home’ and we knew this wasn’t it.
God’s plan of redemption of the captives began and culminated with Christ’s birth.
Jesus brought heaven with Him.
At Advent one mission every believer has involves being so heavenly minded that we carry heaven to our fellow refugees who cannot even catch a glimpse of God’s grace, cannot even imagine what He has prepared for those who love him.
Go today and in some big or small way, Advance the Kingdom of God this Advent.
Help another refugee toward Home.
