Beach is Open

This past week I have experienced some health issues that have interfered with my daily life and not allowed the freedom of movement I normally enjoy. So after a brief conversation with my youngest grandson, Graham on Friday evening, which went something like this:

G: Mimi, we only have Monday and Tuesday before we have to go back to school.

M: That’s right.

G: So, can we do another day trip?

M: It would have to be somewhere close. How about I check to see if the beach is open at Pennyrile State Park? Maybe we could go there.

G: Great! Is it a lake?

M: Yes.

So Saturday morning, I asked Terry, if he would like to drive over the the State Park and check to see if the beach was open for swimming. And he said, couldn’t you just call and ask?

Well, of course, I could have and with the price of gas, that would have been the practical plan, but I looked at him, straight in the eye, and said–submissive wife that I am, “I am not feeling practical today. Do you want to travel with me?”

And he–charmer that he is–said, “I’ll go anywhere with you, Babe.”

And so we did. We found the beach, open till Labor Day. Walked down to the dock with the paddle boats in the rain, explored the lodge, and talked. We talked about the book we were both reading, THE ENGLISH GIRL by Daniel Silva. We talked about blog he was reading on “Why I left the Church”, which was a series of essays by people who had chosen to leave. We shared as we drove, as we walked.

I could have called, but I would have missed a special time with my best fellow. image
